Freedom Moses Slides Review

I have a slight obsession with house slippers. Whether they're cozyfleece-lined winter slippers, the Crocs flip flops I bought twelve years ago and can't bear to part with, or theCloud SlidesI bought during Amazon Prime Day last year and wear daily—I love having comfortable shoes to wear around the house. AlthoughFreedom Mosesmakes sandals that can be worn everywhere, I couldn't wait to test them out as a potential new pair of house shoes.

The brand sent me a pair of the bright redFuji Slides ($50), and I've been wearing them over the last few weeks to see how they stack up against the stalwarts I wear every day. Read on to see what I thought about these trendy (scented) sandals.

What is Freedom Moses?

Freedom Moseswas founded in 2014 by designer Sarah Gurt. The brand aims to create unisex, ethically sourced footwear that is kind to the planet. Their PVC-based sandals are vegan and waterproof, and are injected with air for a lightweight feel. Though all of their sandals have one basic design, Freedom Moses currently boasts over 140 different colorways, from solid colors to printed and metallic options—they also offer some colorways with a velvet strap, which adds texture and visual interest.

In addition to its signature slide, the brand also sells sunglasses, socks, and tote bags, which were not included as part of this test.

What I like about the Freedom Moses Fuji Slide

They have a wide range of colorways to choose from

Picking out a pair of sandals to test out from Freedom Moses was not an easy task, given their spectacular array of color options. With over 140 different colorways, it was overwhelming to choose just one. As I tend to avoid patterns in favor of more minimalistic styles, I landed on the stunning Fuji red colorway. These sandals may look great on a screen, but they look even better in person. This shade of red was rich, deep, and really beautiful, and I couldn't have been more excited to try them on based on their aesthetics alone.

The sandals are scented

What I hadn't noticed when I placed my order, was that Freedom Moses sandals are scented. They're infused with essential oils that give them averysubtle fragrance of milk and honey. I only noticed this when they were inches away from my face while I was inspecting the shoes up close. It was an unexpected surprise, and even many weeks later, the scent of milk and honey is still noticeable on the shoes.

What I don't like about the Freedom Moses Fuji Slide

They're equal parts comfortable and uncomfortable

Imagine my surprise when I discovered that the buckles on the straps are totally decorative and non-functional. Had these straps been operational, I'd have been able to loosen them for a more comfortable fit, but I didn't have the option. That being said, the sole of the shoe is indeed very comfortable, especially for people with flatter feet. Despite being rather thin, the shoes have a bit of bounce and feel like they'd last for a long time.

Are Freedom Moses slides worth it?

Yes, if you value their aesthetic

Though I would have loved to have had functional straps for a more custom fit, Freedom Moses' sandals are comfortable, attractive, and fun to wear. The brand is totally devoted to their Earth-friendly animal-friendly vibe, so you feel like you're part of something greater when shopping with them. If they had fit my feet better, these sandals would absolutely be part of my house-slipper rotation, but I'm much more likely to opt for my trusted cloud slides instead.
