The RecoveryTherm Cube is a compact electronic ice pack and heating pad in one

The RecoveryTherm Cube is an electronic ice pack and heating pad in one. This compact device is about 4½ inches long, 3 inches wide, and 2 inches deep. It has air vents on the top and sides, which Therabody instructs you to avoid blocking during use, while the metal back actually changes temperature.

To use the Cube, you just hold the hot or cold button for a few seconds (or both, for contrast temperature therapy) and the device will automatically start a program. The cold therapy lasts 18 minutes, heat therapy lasts 24 minutes, and contrast therapy lasts 20 minutes. Additionally, there are three temperature settings for each mode. The heat can be turned to 95, 102, or 109 degrees, while the cold can be set to 61, 54, or 46 degrees. You can also adjust the temperature between these options in contrast mode.

The Cube comes with two straps—24 inches and 39 inches long—so you can use the device hands-free. However, you can remove the strap attachment should you want to move it around manually. It costs $149 and includes the Cube, the two straps, and a charger.

The TheraBody RecoveryTherm Cube relieves pain quickly and is user-friendly

It relieves pain quickly

The Cube heats up and cools down quickly for near-instant pain relief. After just a few seconds the device changed temperature to help soothe any muscle pain I was experiencing. It’s also responsive when you change the temperature setting during a session.

I was moving apartments while testing the Cube, so I had some extra aches and pains from climbing stairs and schlepping boxes around my apartment. I used the cold setting initially and moved on to heat therapy in the following days, and found it greatly reduced my discomfort. I can’t speak to whether the deviceactuallyhelped me heal more quickly, but it definitely made the injuries more bearable.

It’s easy to use

It’s simple to turn on the Cube and rotate through the temperature settings while strapped in. Three tiny lights above the buttons light up blue when the device is cold and orange when hot. One light is the most mild setting and three lights is the most extreme. The light display makes it easy to tell which temperature level you have the Cube set to and change to your desired setting.

I also loved how it’s ready to go as long as it’s charged. You don’t have to wait for your ice pack to refreeze or your heating pad to warm, the Cube works almost immediately.

It’s portable

Being able to bring the Cube with me to the gym or studio is a huge plus. You don’t have to worry about keeping ice packs cold or finding an outlet for a heating pad, as long as your Cube is charged, it’s ready to go.

The included straps make it easy to secure the Cube to nearly any part of the body so you can lie down or move around without having to physically hold the device.

What we don’t like

RecoveryTherm Cube being adjusted

It is best suited for small injuries and can be hard to adjust.

It only works for small pains

The Cube works well, but its size makes it best suited for small injuries. On days when I was sore through my entire leg, I had to keep moving the Cube around to treat the area, whereas a standard heating pad would’ve covered the whole thing.

The straps can be tough to adjust

肩带不动非常顺利me when tightening or loosening them. With time, I assume they would break in and become easier to adjust, but straight out of the box they were on the stiffer side.

What other people are saying

Many reviewers love the portability of the Cube and how quickly it works.

The RecoveryTherm Cube has a 4.2-star rating onAmazonfrom just 36 reviews. Many reviewers love the portability of the Cube and how quickly it works.

“Ice packs condensate or lead to freezer burn, but this product is portable,” one reviewer says. “I’m on my feet all day and it takes the effort out of my self-care. The only advanced capability would be if the product could contour or cover a larger area. Other than that I wouldn't change a thing.”

However, some reviewers say the device doesn’t get cold or hot enough for their liking.

“Yes it works and does what it says, but to me it doesn’t get cold enough to fully relieve my pain where needed,” one reviewer says. “As for the heat, it's warm, but definitely not hot.”

The Recovery ThermCube is extremely easy to use

Yes, it’s great for both heat and cold therapy

The RecoveryTherm Cube is extremely easy to use and gives great results. It both cools down and heats up quickly, and its strap makes it conveniently portable.

The main downside to the Cube is its size—it can only be used on smaller muscle groups and injuries. And like with any Therabody device, the Cube comes at a cost. If you’re looking for a larger, less expensive alternative, you may want to consider theMedvice reusable hot and cold pack. Available for just $17, this gel pack can be thrown in the freezer or microwave and secured to your body via an adjustable Velcro strap.
